About Kindermusik:

Kindermusik is a music and movement program for children! The Kindermusk experience for families includes the enjoyment of making music while listening, moving, vocalizing, playing together and experiencing basic music concepts. Classes are age and developmentally appropriate and promote language development, symbolic thinking, motor skills and social interaction. In addition, Kindermusik classes prepare children for instrumental lessons, singing in a choir or participating in an ensemble while encouraging an appreciation of music for a lifetime! At home materials are a part of each Kindermusik curricula and reinforce the learning experience between classes.

Kindermusik for the Young Child®

Semester 1

We focus on the development of basic musical concepts and lay the foundation for success later on. We learn the fundamentals of musical dictation, reading and writing music, proper instrument handling, ensemble preparation, study the music and life of Mozart, interpret and tell musical stories, explore the World of Music, the instrument families of Percussion and Brass Winds, and learn to play the Glockenspiel (a tuned, barred, percussion instrument), which goes home in the 12th week to begin playing the many songs we have learned.

Semester 2

The concepts of Semester 1 are quickly reviewed, then we continue to add more notes, more complicated rhythm patterns and generally build on the previous semesters activities. New musical concepts are introduced; including forte and piano, crescendo and diminuendo, and of course legato and staccato. We review the Percussion and Brass Wind families and add the String and Woodwind families and the Complete Orchestra through sound, pictures, demonstrations and even hands on experience, we also learn about the life and music of Beethoven, and even play Musical Baseball.
